About Us Nadar Por Vida is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation founded in 2004. Coach Lopez, a government lawyer, teacher & USA certified coach, directs high school students and other professional volunteers including teachers, guidance counselors, police officers and renown swim coaches in an effort to break the cycle of drowning and minority obesity to traditionally non-swimming populations whose drowning rate is catastrophic. NPV is not simply a learn to swim program; it is an all-encompassing means to life skills and opportunities. NPV introduces competitive swimming and positions as lifeguards to its swimmers by bridging the gap between swimming and competition and by placing swimmers onto high school, summer, and college swim teams. Swimmers and their families are given the opportunity and means to assimilate into our community through the local (but vast) swim culture. The contacts the families make in and through the swim community help them learn to navigate American life and culture.
