USA Coaches/AdultsNadar Por Vida is a reflection of the volunteer participants’ and our sponsoring organizations’ commitment to ensure every child has a chance to swim to their potential. "No one receives compensation. Police, lawyers, teachers, social workers, high school and middle school students donate their Friday and Saturday nights. Our swimmers love to see accomplished swimmers their own age or younger participate as mentors and coaches..." Whether you come once or weekly, your time, expertise and enthusiasm is appreciated! Senior Coaches
Nadar has swimmers of all levels and capabilities. To the extent possible, senior coaches are assigned to a group of swimmers at their preference. Although Coach Lopez has a specific philosophy which he expects his student coaches to follow this does not apply to Nadar Senior coaches, meaning USS coaches or other certified aquatic professionals. It is our mission to introduce swimmers of color and of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds to competitive swimming. Coach Lopez is recognized for his efforts in recruitment and retention of minority swimmers. Unlike many coaches and aquatic professionals, Coach Lopez has no desire to be an Olympic Coach or the most celebrated age group coach in the area. His passion is bringing young men and women into the sport of swimming. He concentrates on showing how successes in the water can lead to academic excellence and personal achievement. We have no desire for Nadar to be a Latino or minority swim team. In fact, we believe it would be a disservice to each swimmer, their family and the community if we were to limit their development based solely on the level of his expertise and coaching proficiency. We believes it is our responsibility to expose these children to the highest level of coaching excellence in order to achieve their true potential which makes the participation of USA certified professionals from all of our local Potomac Valley affiliated swim teams essential. Adult Volunteers There are plenty of on deck/ out of the water tasks to be done. Everyone is welcome to help out. “Just give us one Saturday night and you can affect a child and a family for a lifetime!” |
